Key concerns include geese presence, which affects cleanliness and usability, and challenges with landscaping that may impact visual appeal and accessibility.

Current Issues – The park currently faces several issues that limit its accessibility and inclusivity for families and children:

Geese –

The presence of geese impacts the cleanliness of the grounds, creating sanitation challenges that may discourage usage by families and children.

Displaced Individuals –

The park is often used as a space by displaced individuals, which can present challenges in creating an inviting environment for all community members.

Lack of Family and Child Use –

Limited family-friendly amenities and the issues mentioned above have led to a decline in park usage by families and children, affecting the park's role as a vibrant community hub.

Disconnected from Community Center and Surrounding Neighborhood –

Due to current issues, the park feels somewhat isolated from the nearby community center and surrounding neighborhood, reducing its effectiveness as a unifying community space.

Site Condition – An in-depth assessment of the physical conditions of existing structures and grounds will help identify necessary repairs and upgrades. Environmental and structural issues, as well as considerations for sustainable maintenance practices, will be a priority.

Site Context – We will examine the park’s broader context, analyzing local land use, neighborhood demographics, and socio-economic conditions. Understanding these factors will provide insight into how accessible the park is to residents, potential barriers to its use, and ways to enhance its connection to the nearby community center and neighborhood.
